Meera Syal is a comic, performer, writer and host, who has covered almost every medium from TV, screenplay, feature films, novels and the West End.
Alongside her kaleidoscope of talents, Meera has hosted The Travel Show, appeared on Have I Got News For You and traced her Punjabi roots in Who Do You Think You Are?

Meera Syal is one of the country’s most popular comic and dramatic performers and writers, starring in hit programmes as diverse as Broadchurch and The Kumars at No 42. She made her name on the sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, and as the acclaimed author of Anita & Me and Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee.
As well as appearing in feature films from Sammi and Rosie Get Laid to Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Meera wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed Bhaji on the Beach and also adapted her books Anita & Me (into a feature film) and Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee (into a TV series.)
Meera’s lengthy list of TV credits include Doctor Who, Holby City, Absolutely Fabulous and Drop the Dead Donkey. She has hosted The Travel Show, appeared on Have I Got News For You and traced her Punjabi roots in Who Do You Think You Are? In the theatre she has played Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the RSC, collaborated with Andrew Lloyd Webber in Bombay Dreams and portrayed Shirley Valentine in the West End.
